I recently got back from a month long holiday to America, and what a country it is! Had an absolute blast there, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for good nights out. For those who haven’t been to America before, I had you in mind and took many notes so I could tell y’all what it’s really like from a Nightlife Correspondent’s point of view.
Australians aren’t the kind to snub any form of live music event. If the music is pumping and the bass is thumping, it’s likely to be a hit no matter what the genre is. With events like Stereosonic and Soundwave proving to be just as popular as each other, Australians have proved that they are keen as mustard to enjoy both bands and DJs.
Things are pretty easy for the guys at clubs. They look good without too much effort and pick up the chicks all of the time, using one liners to woo them. The ‘how to pick up a girl’ gene is genetically programmed into most guys.
Gone are the days of clubbing enthusiasts wearing their best dresses and heels on a Saturday night. The clubbing scene has changed not only in the drugs we take, how long we party for and the drinks we consume but also in the outfits that we wear. No more good quality dresses with our clutch matching our heels. No more well thought out outfits. No more jeans for the boys.
When you’re going out to have a good night, there are always some little things that can piss you right off, unless you’re the one pissing other people off, in which case listen here! Are you an Australian Producer or DJ looking for a leg-up in the industry? Looking for a life-changing opportunity to travel the world’s clubs and music charts? Maybe you know someone who is.
These days relationships and love are harder to find with sexual partners coming and going. We’re texting instead of writing letters, we’re going for drinks instead of going to dinner and having sex on the first date isn’t taboo anymore. So does going clubbing with a potential partner count as a date nowadays?
Summer is finally getting closer! Yay! Rejoice! Warm weather, cold drinks, longer nights and less clothing. Oh it’s always a good thing you say? Not if you’re going clubbing. On the last night of winter this year, I went clubbing, and it was anything but cold.
You meet a girl in a bar on a Saturday night and really hit it off. You talk for a while and think she might be into you, so you bite the bullet and ask for her number. After waiting the mandatory three days (you don’t want to seem too desperate), you call her. She answers and you say, “How are you going, cutie?”
It’s a familiar scene that plays out every Saturday in bars and clubs across Sydney: keen clubbers head excitedly to the door of their chosen venue for a night out and are looked up and down by security staff that bear the all-encompassing power to accept or reject.
