The Gold Coast is a visitor late-night strip — Surfers Paradise and Cavill — not a Melbourne laneway city and not Brisbane’s Valley with a beach attached. If you are asking whether Gold Coast nightlife is “good,” the honest answer is: it is a coastal visitor grid with late rooms that turn over, seeded here from the archive. Treat 2011 club names as historical character, walk one stretch, and confirm the door.
The old nav labelled this city GoldCoast and mixed two URL shapes (/goldcoast, /gold_coast, /gold-coast). This rebuild uses /gold-coast/ as the canonical hub. 2011 venues live at /gold-coast/all/. /search/gold_coast/all/ 301s to the city index.
How a Gold Coast night actually splits
The split is strip versus everywhere else you should not add. Surfers Paradise is the seeded walking precinct attached to the archive’s featured club cards. Cavill Avenue was a separate precinct label on the old site — the same visitor late product, a named stretch, not a second city. Broadbeach, the hinterland, and Brisbane are different nights. Do not “fit in the Valley” on the way home to a Surfers hotel. That is a highway, not a precinct walk.
A compact Coast night is one stretch of Surfers or Cavill and a last room you have already named. A late strip night is a nightclub door you intended from the start. Mixing those with a Brisbane river crossing is how groups spend the night in a car.
Queensland did not copy the 2014 NSW lockout package. The citable lockout history is Sydney CBD and Kings Cross, wound back from 2020. Gold Coast last drinks belong to each venue. There is no city-wide timer on this page, and we will not invent one for schoolies week or a long weekend.
Name turnover is part of the geography. Visitor strips change signs. A 2011 card that still has a URL is fidelity, not a neon guarantee. Missing ≠ closed still applies — and so does present ≠ trading.
Precinct-by-precinct walking advice
Surfers Paradise
Surfers Paradise is the strip the national homepage used for its Gold Coast featured card. Walk one short grid. Pick a last room. Do not treat the light spine as a ranking of doors. The precinct page exists so the Coast has the same city → precinct → venue shape as Melbourne and Sydney. It is not a complete Surfers club guide.
Sin City is the archive’s featured Surfers card. Treat it as historical directory copy. Confirm whether the name still trades, what the door asks, and whether a cover applies — this directory will not invent that price. Other archive rooms on the city index include Vanity Nightclub, Shooters Superclub, Platinum Nightclub, Melba’s, and Cocktails and Dreams. Those profiles are historical character. Confirm IDs and dress codes before you travel.
SkyPoint sat on the register as a lookout-and-venue card, not as a late-street door. Do not file it as a Cavill club. Envy Hotel is hotel-bar character on the same city index. Different room types live on the same strip; say which one you want before you walk.
Cavill
Cavill was a separate precinct on the old site. This rebuild has not written a standalone Cavill walking page. That is a writing gap, not a claim the stretch vanished. Use the Surfers precinct and the city index until a Cavill map is verified. Walk a short named stretch. Do not bounce every door as if a missing precinct page were a theme-park map.
Cavill is not Fortitude Valley. The Valley is a declared entertainment precinct in Brisbane. Cavill is a coastal visitor label. The density you remember from a 2011 trip may not match the doors you find now. Verify.
How the strip actually walks
Surfers is a light spine with hotel towers and late doors. That looks like a plan from a balcony. On the pavement it is a short grid that punishes indecision. Pick a block. Name the last room. Carry ID. Saturday doors on a visitor strip often ask more of a dress code than a hotel bar does — still a door policy, not a city law. See the dress-codes article.
The walk from a beachfront hotel to Cavill-adjacent doors is the usual first-timer circuit. It works if you stop adding “just one more” after you already named a last room. It fails if the group treats every staircase as a maybe. Queues are not a quality score. A queue is a door doing its job on a busy night. This directory will not invent the cover at the front of it.
Rain and a southerly change are coastal planning facts. Have a way back to the hotel that does not depend on standing outside for an hour. We will not publish a storm timetable.
What not to stitch on
Broadbeach, theme-park hinterland, and a Brisbane Valley encore are not this hub’s walking map. If you are staying in Surfers, stay in Surfers. If you already know the night is a Brisbane late night, start in The Valley and do not treat the Coast as a warm-up. Two Queensland nights are still two nights.
Broadbeach can be a quieter hotel-bar edge. It is not seeded as a precinct hub on this rebuild. That absence is a writing gap, not a claim the suburb shut, and not an invitation to invent a second strip ranking. If you are already in Broadbeach, walk that neighbourhood. Do not taxi to Cavill “because that is where nightlife is” unless that was the plan at dinner.
Hollywood Showgirls appears on the archive index as an adult-room listing. This is an 18+ directory. We will not rewrite that card as a cocktail recommendation, and we will not invent current hours.
What this directory will not invent
No star ratings. No “number one Gold Coast club.” No live cover. No current hours. No schoolies timetable. No guest list. Sin City is not crowned. Shooters is not this Saturday’s headliner. SkyPoint is not a club ranking.
We will not invent a declared entertainment precinct for Cavill to rhyme with the Valley. We will not invent lockout folklore. We will not publish a ranked rooftop-versus-strip list.
Dress codes on a visitor strip are still set by the door — often stricter on Saturday than a hotel bar. See the dress-codes article and the FAQ for ID and cover questions that have no single national answer.
If you want type definitions, use nightclubs, cocktail bars, or pubs. Then come back here for the strip.
How to use /gold-coast/all/{venue}/
The 2011 directory filed Coast rooms at /gold-coast/all/{venue} (and messy aliases). The live index is all Gold Coast venues. Hyphenated /gold-coast/all/{venue}/ is the canonical profile — for example /gold-coast/all/sin-city/. /goldcoast and /gold_coast 301 toward /gold-coast/.
Open Surfers Paradise for walking geography. Open a profile for archive character. Then confirm the night on the venue’s own channels. This site is not a booking engine, guest list, or ticket seller.
Missing ≠ closed
Featured archive cards are a sample. Cavill does not yet have its own walking page. Many 2011 names are not reproduced. Visitor-strip signs change. A missing card is a writing gap. A present card is still not a neon guarantee. Missing ≠ closed. Present ≠ open this week.
If a club you remember from a 2011 trip is absent, do not read the gap as proof it is gone — and do not read a seeded blurb as tonight’s floorplan.
How to use this hub
Pick one stretch. Name the last room. Confirm ID. Drink responsibly. 18+. This is not a booking engine.
