The 2011 barsandnightclubs.com.au IA put every Canberra room under /canberra/all/{venue}. Search listings lived at /search/canberra/all/. This page keeps that city-wide bucket as a live index.
Canberra does not yet have named walking-map siblings on this rebuild. The city hub says Civic precinct pages can be added when someone writes a verified walking map. That absence is a research gap, not a claim Civic is closed. Missing ≠ closed. This index is the register. The hub is the geography until those maps exist.
How /canberra/all/{venue}/ works
Hyphenated /canberra/all/{venue}/ is canonical. Underscores 301 here. When a Civic or CBD walking-map page is written, it will stay a map; profiles will still live on this city-wide path. That is the same IA as Sydney and Melbourne, without pretending the maps are already done.
This list is the honest set of seeded Canberra profiles. It is not a claim every 2011 name still trades. It is not a scored ranking. Hours belong to the venue.
Academy Nightclub is the seeded capital card. It is not the same URL as Sydney’s Academy. Treat both as historical character. We will not republish Academy as a live Canberra timetable.
Walking advice without a sibling precinct set
Canberra after dark is a compact Civic night: pubs, hotel bars, and a handful of late rooms, not a Fortitude Valley strip and not a Northbridge grid. Civic and the CBD blocks around it are the walking start. Parliamentary triangle geography is orientation for visitors; it is not a club precinct.
The city is planned and spread out. That is the nightlife fact that matters. A four-precinct crawl is a car plan, not a walking plan. Pick a first pour in Civic and one last room on the same side of the lake unless you already have a committed ride.
Braddon and other inner-north names come up in Canberra conversation. They are not seeded precinct pages. Missing ≠ closed. Do not invent a Braddon-versus-Civic ranking to fill the gap.
How this night differs from the mainland capitals
Sydney’s CBD is a train-adjacent first-pour grid in a harbour city. Melbourne’s CBD is laneways inside the Hoddle. Canberra is a planned capital with a smaller late-room set. The archive treated it as a first-class nav city anyway — which is why /canberra/ and /canberra/all/ stay live. First-class URL is not a claim the night is Sydney-scale.
If you wanted a declared entertainment precinct, that is the Valley. If you wanted Civic, use the Canberra hub and this index.
Missing ≠ closed
A 2011 Civic name may be unmarked because it has not been researched. A hotel bar in the parliamentary hotel cluster may still trade under another title. Absence from this index is a research gap. Presence of Academy is not a live hour sheet.
The hub is marked historical on the city page because Civic listings still need a refresh. This index stays honest: rooms we have written, then verify.
How to use this index
- Read the Canberra hub for the compact-Civic advice.
- Treat Civic as the walk until a precinct map exists.
- Open a profile here for character — especially to avoid mixing Canberra’s Academy with Sydney’s.
- Confirm the door.
- Drink responsibly. 18+.
No star ratings. The 2011 path stays live so the capital’s register has a home — not an invented Civic club crawl.
Civic pins, the lake edge, and two Academies
Civic and the CBD blocks around it are the walking start until a precinct map is written. Parliamentary triangle geography orients visitors; it is not a club precinct. The lake is a real edge: a last room on the other side is a committed ride, not a stroll you add because Canberra looks small on a national map.
Academy Nightclub is the seeded capital card. It is not Sydney’s Academy. Mixing those URLs is the IA trap this index exists to prevent. Both cards are historical character. We will not republish Canberra’s Academy as a live timetable.
/search/canberra/all/ and underscores 301 here. Those aliases are not a fuller secret directory. Missing ≠ closed: Braddon and other inner-north names are backlog, not a ranked rival to Civic. Present ≠ open: a seeded card is character.
A four-precinct crawl is a car plan in a spread-out planned city. Pick a first pour in Civic and one last room on the same side of the lake unless you already have a ride. The Canberra hub holds that advice. This page holds the cards.
Do not clone Sydney CBD or Melbourne CBD laneway language onto Civic. First-class nav URL is not a claim the night is a harbour metropolis. 18+. Drink responsibly. Confirm the door. Use this cabinet after the hub, not instead of it. Name the Civic pour before you open a second card.
