One music festival Brisbane won’t be promoting is Hammered, a neo-Nazi music festival that is being held at a secret location in Brisbane 0n the 21st of April. It had been held in the Gold Coast for the past two years, but is now heading to Brisbane. Hammered, created by the white supremacist organisation The Hammerskins, is expected to attract white supremacists from around the world.
Brisbanites are furious about the swarm of neo-Nazis that will be heading their way and having race hate music from international and local bands preaching their racists beliefs. Queensland officials are also concerned that if this festival is allowed to go ahead, especially after the Gold Coast had held the festivals as well, then Queensland will be viewed as a joke and as a state full of racists. Unfortunately, as Hammered is being held on private property, unless the bands playing incite attendants to become violent or if they breach the anti-discrimination provisions, the Queensland Police Service and the Brisbane City Council cannot put a stop to this festival.
Hammerhead has created a paradox in music festival logic: festivals are supposed to bring people from all walks of life together, and while it is bringing white people from all over the world together, they are excluding non-white people, so only people from select walks of life will be accepted.
If there is one thing you can take from this incident, it’s that there truly is a music festival out there for everyone, including racist dickheads.
NOTE: Bars and Nightclubs is in no way promoting this festival nor does it agree with the beliefs and actions of white supremacists.
