Crown And Sceptre Hotel Review

Review by Karolina Firman

I had the pleasure to visit this pub when I was last in Adelaide. Right in the middle of the city, its easy to get to, and hard to leave. You walk in and you are suffused with warmth, its a well lit, cosy pub.

Off to the side of the main room, there’s another room that they use for social events. Such as “Monday nights for the lonely soul”, with live music and an altered menu. What’s on, changes from Monday to Monday so if you have a free evening maybe check it out.

The most important part of a bar is of course the drinks. So what can you get there? They have a wide range of spirits and liqueurs, as well as many options if you are a wine fan.

I am not a fan of wine unfortunately, so I tried out one of their craft brews. It was quite hoppy, it had unfortunately fallen into the craft brewers trap of over-hopping things so it tastes different to the factory brewed drinks that flood the market. It wasn’t the worst beer I’ve ever had, but I would recommend that you try something else on their menu.

As for the food, it’s a little on the pricey side for pub food but very nice, and on Mondays they have a special menu, for the aforementioned “Monday nights for the lonely soul” where everything is $10.

They have $10 items throughout the week, but they also have a nice range of more. I tried the veggie burger, it had a Mediterranean flair and was well cooked, but it wasn’t the best veggie burger that I have ever had, but I have been spoilt by other pubs. That being said, it was one of the cheaper things on the menu at $10, so it had great value for money.

All and all, if you happen to be in the area, this is a good pub to check out.
