The seventh annual Golden Plains festival out in the bush (i.e. just outside the town of Meridith) will soon be happening again, and have just announced their 2013 lineup. With all the festivals happening on the Labor Day long weekend in March, Golden Plains is unique is that it’s completely about the music, as there is no corporate sponsorship whatsoever and that the first lot of tickets are distributed through a ballot. What else makes it unique is its No Dickhead Policy (pretty self explanatory; talk about not sugarcoating it!).
For a festival with no corporate sponsorship, it’s amazing that Golden Plains manage to get such an awesome lineup of alternative rock and funk musos from all over the world to play. (See, it is about the music to them, not just the babes and drugs!):
Cat Power
Dinosaur Jr.
Tallest Man On Earth
George Clinton And Parliament Funk
The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
Purity Ring
Flume
Moodymann
The Mark Of Cain
Toro Y Moi

The festival goes from Saturday 9 March until Monday 11 March, and tickets include two days of camping out while listening to all the awesome music around you. Tix will be available from Friday 9 November at 11am at the Golden Plains website.
