The folks at Triple J are once again bringing us all into the new year with the Pyramid Rock Festival in Phillip Island. Named after Pyramid Rock which is a basalt rock formation just offshore from where the festival’s happening, you may be disappointed if you expect an actual pyramid to be there (I recommend either Egypt or Guatemala for the real deal). But you’re only interested in watching music history as it’s happening rather than reading dusty old textbooks on Pharaohs, then Pyramid Rock is totes for you!
Listed in Hieroglyphic order, as Pyramid Rock’s website describes it, here’s the lineup translated for you into modern day English in alphabetical order (It’s quite amazing how the ancient Egyptians predicted a music festival that happened millenniums later, and that Pyramid Rock’s promoters just happened to know how to read Hieroglyphics, isn’t it?).

Pyramid Rock begins on Saturday 30 December and concludes on Tuesday 1 January, though peeps who want to arrive early can come on the 29th, where heaps of movies will be shown on a big screen that night. A whopping three days of rocking, Pyramid Rock is a well and truly awesome way to start the new year. After all this partying, you’ll feel so out of it that you’ll believe you’re a mummy that’s come back from the dead. Fortunately, there’s plenty of time to rest up in between sets as camping is available for those wanting to stick around the festival. Various 2 Day and 3 Day passes are available for those wanting to stick around for different lengths of time (there’s ticket info and the option to purchase them here).
Pyramid Rock is being held at Grand Prix Circuit, 381 Back Beach Road, Ventnor, on Phillip Island. Enjoy!
