WOMADelaide – one of Australia’s most renowned music, arts and dance festivals -is celebrating its 20th anniversary when it rolls into town this Friday 9th March 2012. Taking place inside the beautiful surroundings of the Adelaide Botanic Park, this 3-day outdoor festival celebrates the best in arts, culture, food, dance and music from all over the globe. Featuring a lineup of world-class artists, musicians and DJ’s too long to list here – but I’ll give it a try:
As well as an Australian exclusive performance from renowned Senegalese musician Baaba Maal, and many more!
In addition to these acclaimed artists and musicians, there will be workshops, cooking sessions from artists and guest chef’s, kid’s activities and street theatre including comical performances from Ireland’s ponydance theatre company.
From its humble beginnings in 1992, the festival attracted more than 81 000 attendees last year. With its 2012 line-up of amazing past favourites and all new artists, this year is expected to be even bigger.
Tickets are available for purchase from Foxtix and range in price from $94 to $313, and $2 from each ticket sale will go to Greening Australia who will put the money towards bio- diverse tree planting projects!
