Ugh, you’re not dreaming - the 2012 Coachella line up has been announced and with it their plans to host the festival over two weekends. Organizer of Coachella, Paul Tollett said this move was “to create access for as many people as possible,” and was a response to this years increased demand for tickets and the overwhelming speed of sales last year.
“The thought of selling out super quick, and the only people who get to go are the people who bought the first minute or bought tickets for more than they sold for, didn’t seem great to us,” he said.
Tollett also told the LA Times that festival organizers didn’t want to add another city or raise ticket prices and felt that adding another weekend would preserve the experience.
Headliners for the festival, including Snoop Dogg, David Guetta, Calvin Harris and Radiohead, as well as an array of other acts, (special mention to Meblournes own Gotye) will perform sets on consecutive weekends in April, a schedule unique to 2012.
The festival now in its 13th year will again be performed in Indio in the Californian desert. Tickets are available from Friday, January 13 start at $285 for a festival pass.
Here it is, in real life to be lusted over and venerated.
