Las Vegas party goers are raising their glow sticks in the air after it was officially announced that January 2nd 2012 will be known as “Deadmau5 Day”.
The Canadian born electro-house extraordinaire has been given the accolade from Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman. The announcement comes just shy of New Year Eve when he will debut as the XS nightclubs new resident DJ. Although he may not enjoy being known as a DJ, his fans love his sound and it is no secret he has a hoard of followers ready to welcome him when he plays his first gig.
Jessie Waits, co-owner of XS, said in a statement how he gives props to the Mayor’s announcement “I applaud Mayor Goodman for recognizing both his remarkable persona alongside his ability to drive visitor traffic from fans travelling across the globe to experience his live sets”. Waits explains how sin city is almost as well known for its dance music as it is for its gambling.
Deadmau5 aka Joel Zimmerman describes his sound as a “technological orgy” which will complement the city’s bustling nightlife. Zimmerman is already conquering the music world and has recently been nominated for three Grammy awards including Best Dance recording.
