Lux Nightclub Review
Written by Christine Tsimbis
Lux is an edgy and modern nightclub in Chapel Street that can throw a hell of a good party. Located in the heart of South Yarra, it has stylish decor and is versatile to suit a random night out, a special function or a corporate event. When I went for the first time on Sunday night (which they call Serendipity Sundays), I saw a considerable mix of people who were all setting the dancefloor alight by rocking it to the RnB, hip hop and gangster beats. There were people onstage that were letting loose and enjoying themselves, and then when I looked up to the ceiling, there was a dancer in a cage that was twerking and booty grinding to the beat.
Expect to hear the likes of Ty Dolla Sign, French Montana, Kid Ink and other artists that preach their inner gangster loud and proud. Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Drake and Nicki Minaj are also some commercial favourites that really set the party mood in Lux, especially after you’ve had a few drinks. There’s also an outdoor area for those people that need to take a break from all the hardcore partying.
Later on in the night, the bar was suddenly taken over by another dancer who was literally playing with fire, as she danced and twirled fire with her arms. She made it look so easy, although it would take so much training, coordination and precision (and a few nasty burns, I presume!) before she could master the alluring yet dangerous art. Most of the crowd was enraptured, and I can definitely vouch for Lux’s great choice of entertainment – everybody was enjoying the spectacle, and the night only became more packed with people as the hours went by.
Be sure to also check Lux out on a Saturday night; they call it ‘Vintage Saturdays’ and although I’ve never been, I’m sure it would go off! My Sunday night experience was fun and I definitely recommend everyone to go to Lux on Sunday night to join in on the fun.
