What to Expect @ The Embassy
By Laura Hanley
The recently renovated Embassy Hotel is a highlight of Brisbane’s nightlife.
During the week, the hotel is packed with office workers enjoying one of the many local and imported beers on tap. The welcoming atmosphere and extensive cocktail list make it a popular spot to unwind after a long day. The new modern interior, sporting a chocolate brown and red colour scheme, adds to the relaxed environment with plenty of seating available. The music on offer is a mix of commercial jazz and modern funk, played by some of Brisbane’s best local DJs.
Pop in on a Friday or Saturday night however, things are dramatically different. The hotel becomes noticeably more club-like, with the majority of clientele under 25. The hotel fills around eight, commonly as a starting point for those having a ‘big night.’ Cocktails are reasonably priced, beers are cheap, and the music is a great mix of house and pop.
Come eleven, Embassy turns into club mecca. Most patrons let loose, dance to the (often hilarious) fusion of 90’s and modern pop, and consume more cocktails than they thought possible… Basically, this was my Friday night. Starting at Embassy around 11, I had already consumed enough drinks to last me the rest of the night. But did that stop me from trying to drink my way through the cocktail list? Of course not!
Although the hotel was half as busy as usual, this didn’t stop me and a number of my friends from dancing up a storm. We encouraged people to let loose and join us, most dancing with a beer in each hand.
On a number of occasions we found ourselves amidst a group of strangers discussing the extravagant cocktail list and my personal mission drink through it before the night was over. People were friendly and inviting, and more than willing to help me with my mission. It was a great night, despite my poor efforts of consuming only a few cocktails.
Nonetheless Embassy has great music, great drinks and provides a great atmosphere. From drinks after work to late night clubbing, Embassy can deliver.

A 2nd Look @ The Embassy Hotel
By Matthew Hart
By day the Embassy Hotel caters to the office crowd out on their business lunch, by night the hotel transforms into one of Brisbane’s best hotspots. Located in the heart of the city the hotel has gained immense popularity with clubgoers, suits and sports fans. The dining menu is extensive with everything from steaks to chicken and pizza, all modestly priced with all items $20 or less. The intimate and modern bar in the venue delivers a wide range of cocktails and spirits as well as an extensive list of international and local beers. Embassy Hotel brings the party to Brisbane 7 days a week, opening at 10 am till late.
Having not been to the venue for a while my friends and I decided to check it out again, knowing we had many epic nights there before. I approached the door and not only did we get right in but best of all there was no cover charge. It was a Thursday night which at Embassy is the Mother Of All Thursdays party. Thursdays at Embassy usually cater to the uni and student crowd so we were in good company the whole night. The houselights went down around 8pm and the DJ jumped behind the decks and began to belt out the hottest mixes of all your favourites. When we hit the bars we were surprised to be served right away by the friendly and approachable bar staff. Also to our surprise was the cost of drinks with great deals on basics offered.
From there we tore it up on the dancefloor to the sound of pop and old school classics and chilled in the very comfortable booths upstairs. We left well after midnight with a good buzz going and a great time to look back on. We enjoyed the night so much we checked it out again on Saturday and were pleasantly surprised to find the venue pumping once again. The bar was packed and it was a tight squeeze on the dancefloor but we still managed to get served quickly with a great deal on jugs this time and spent the night on the dancefloor, and took some time out in the lounges whilst absorbing the great atmosphere.
Overall Embassy Hotel is a great venue to party, chill, and hang out with friends. The drink deals are amazing and the bar staff are friendly and fun. The music caters to all tastes and the dancefloor is always filled (after 8 to 9pm anyway). Whether you’re a student, an office worker, or backpacker this venue will definitely not disappoint.
