Review by Christa SinghLaruche Bar and Supper Club is definitely the place to go if you’re looking for a trendy, upmarket bar. Located next to the Bowery Bar on Ann St, while you might not notice the bar at first, you’ll definitely notice the people lining up to get inside this visual wonder.
As the venue is the creation of the masterminds behind West End’s Lychee Lounge, Laruche be will sure to keep up its expectations of its older, sister bar. Spreading over two levels, with no cover charge and friendly door staff, you’ll definitely feel welcome here.
The first thing you’ll notice upon entering the bar is the eccentric array of décor. From chandelier bearing skulls and cave like adornments, to the luxurious couches, it almost appears as if each piece of decoration is its own work of art. The lamps dripping with crystals create a mysterious aura and fantasy like atmosphere along with the whole style of the venue.
The average age of party goers in this bar is around 30, though that does not discourage people in their twenties or forties from entering. Saying that, the music definitely caters for almost every generation in the bar. You’ll be hearing a mixture of the latest tunes to eighties favourites remixed with a twist.
With the variety of cocktails available averagely priced from $12 to $20, with a bit of exploring and taste testing, you’ll be sure to find the perfect one for you. While the menu heralds wine, champagne and old classics such as martinis, it also includes its own concoctions such as the Laruche punch.
While drinks may be on the minds of many patrons, the food is also worth having a look (and bite) at, that is if you can decide what to eat! Laruche provides a selection of tasty tapas, but remember to save room for dessert, with both tapas and small desserts ranging from $10 to $18.
Open from Wednesday to Sunday, 5pm till late, Laruche offers its venue for private functions.
