We’ve all heard the old saying that wine gets better with age. It seems this principle applies to beer too as Thomas French, the General Manager of The Warradale Hotel, will soon be selling six packs of Vintage Coopers Ale for the hotel’s first and limited release of the experience made available to the public.
Mr French has been collecting Vintage Coopers Ale since 2009, a four year endevour that is even more impressive for not having drunk any of it in that time (that would’ve taken a lot of willpower when you think about it!). Having got the idea from all the numerous wine tastings you hear about, he thought it’d be a good idea for the beer geeks of Adelaide to eat it up (well, drink it up to be exact, but anyway). It’s pretty much a sure thing they will too; Coopers has a cult following in South Australia, so they will absolutely love it!
There’s only twenty cases of these each containing Coopers Vintage Ale made between 2009-2012, nearly half a decade of the stuff all in one box. (Insider tip: Mr French believes the 2009 is the most balanced, though each year has something to offer). Mr French believes tasting the different Coopers from over the years will allow drinkers to compare the unique tastes every year will have and the effect of external factors such as climate and raw product quality in the production process have on the drink after such a long time.
At $180 per case, this experience is aimed for true Coopers lovers. It also means for any Coopers fans reading this that there is a good chance there’s still plenty available for you at The Warradale Hotel if you’re dying to taste the good stuff.
