Review by Carley McHughWith the constant hustle and bustle of the city, it can be hard to find a relaxed bar to have a few drinks at. Hidden in the heart of Perth’s CBD, Rigby’s Bar provides a great atmosphere for an after work (or during work) drink. With a range of events happening every week, there is no excuse for sitting at home on the weekend.
It may be hard to believe that a place such as this exists off St George’s Terrace, but the double story, old Victorian style building instantly leaves the modern city behind. This theme is carried throughout the whole bar. with a beautiful large balcony wrapped around the top level and a secluded outdoor area with plenty of tables.
For those who love live music, this is the place to be on a Friday night. Fusion Friday’s consists of the resident DJ, Trav.s.T, playing the hottest music in the Atrium bar and Chris Murphy playing live music from 8pm-10pm - as well as $7 Daquiri’s, pint boags and house spirits and $8 cocktails and rush RTD’s.
On a normal night out, drinks are reasonably priced for a bar located in the city. There are 15 beers on tap that range from $6-$10, spirits from $6 and cocktails from $14.
The bistro is also a great place to hit for a quick bite or a romantic date, with pizza’s starting from $13 and the main courses ranging from salmon to steak. If you’re one who loves a good deal, try the $10 pizzas that are available from Monday to Friday.
Feeling in the mood for something different? Why not try the Twisted Vaudeville’s Dinner Cabaret? Underneath Rigby’s Bar, the room lights up every Friday night with crazy cabaret dancing, mouth watering food and delicious drinks.
The cabaret show changes every few weeks, so it’s always an idea you can keep in the back of your mind for something to do with friends. The burlesque show consisted of the can can, dancing with snakes and dancing in a large martini glass.
As the show was in the middle of the room with no stage, it was sometimes hard to see the whole show, so if possible, request a table near the centre of the room.
The bar is available for functions during the week and on weekends. Rigby’s Bar is able to cater for 30 - 1000 guests with private rooms, available for wedding receptions, seminars and birthday parties.
It can be hard to find a chilled, yet entertaining bar in a convenient location, but Rigby’s Bar has all of these elements. The city life may take its toll after finishing work for the week, but Rigby’s Bar is a perfect spot for a relaxing drink or a big night on the town.
