Story of every clubber’s life: having to come up with a way to nicely let down that guy who’s damn persistent. I like to call them ‘stage five clingers’, and I believe that should become an actual dictionary term because some people can be overly obsessive. Stage five clingers will usually shower you with ridiculous pick-up lines and wreak of desperation, and their clinginess knows no bounds.
When I go clubbing, I don’t like to be rude to the guys that make moves on me, mainly because I care about feelings. But sometimes there’s no other option to the guy who has grabbed onto your arm while you’re walking past. Or the one who comes up behind you when you’re dancing and puts his hand around your waist and won’t let go.
When the final set of the night begins to spin and you’ve yet to receive attention from the one-and-only you’ve been stalking all night, it can be all too easy to give up hope and lower that bar, knock back another drink and settle for the company of a contender you just know you’ll regret in the morning.
