Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work in a nightclub? Basically work would become a party. However, working every night can begin to turn you nocturnal, so is working in a nightclub always like a party? Every young adult dreams of being the ultimate party animal and living life to the fullest, so hitting the nightclubs can become a ritual. Being a bartender or bouncer in a club can seem like a dream job, but there is a lot of pressure like most other jobs.
1. Serving And Cleaning
When there is a large round bar filled with customers demanding drinks, it can be hard to get a break from preparing all the drinks. It is easy to become confused and disorientated. It’s hard enough to be able to prepare multiple mixes of drinks, but to be able to flip bottles and serve three people at once can be a talent. It would be a great talent to be able to host a party and know how to create drink mixes off the top of your head, because you do it for a living. Just like any job where customers need to be served, you have to present yourself respectably and show the customer your full attention and service. On top of this, there is a lot of cleaning involved in nightclub work. First of all, the tables and dance floors have to constantly be cleared, because glass cups become a safety hazard. Again, each night a thorough clean of the floors and tables and constant washing up of glasses needs to be done. So serving alcoholic beverages and cleaning a club may not be as simple as it sounds.
2. Dealing With Drunks
Whether you work as a bouncer, security or bartender, you will have to deal with intoxicated customers. From slurred speech to aggressive moods, there is continuous work dramas that come with working in a nightclub. Breaking up fights and getting things thrown at you will probably be the worst you see of a night. Usually violence is reserved for the streets, so it isn’t that bad. However, dealing with intoxicated people when you are trying to close up or disperse people can become an issue. So in order to be able to work in a nightclub, you need to have strong willpower and be forceful at times. Although bartenders don’t usually handle these cases, it is left up to security at the clubs.
3. Long, Late Shifts
The thing about working in a club or a nightlife precinct is that opening time is late at night and closing time is usually early in the morning. In other words, you have to become nocturnal to be able to make it through your long shifts. Some shifts can go from 8pm til 3am in the morning. After all the serving and cleaning during the night you would be tired enough, then you have to add on the fact that you don’t get home til nearly 4am each day.
4. All-Round Benefits
Overall, there are multiple benefits that come with working in a nightclub. No, you aren’t able to drink on the job. Well, you’re not meant to drink and work. However, on your night off there are sure to be some staff discounts available. You get to meet a heap of different people, maybe even a future lover or two. Work is not a hassle, but a constant party for you and your colleagues. Even better are the great fashions that you get to wear. There are no boring work uniforms; instead there are mid-drift tops and miniskirts! All in all, working at a nightclub could be a dream come true.
