Whether it’s Australia Day, Invasion Day or Triple J hottest 100 day to you on January 26th, one thing still remains- the unique fashion we all seem to embrace. We endeavour to see who can dress and behave more Australian. This year’s fashion is all about colour and vibrancy, on this day you must be seen and heard. Here I discuss my top 5 fashion tips for such an occasion.
1. Coloured Zinc / Body Paint- Green and Gold or Red, White and Blue or Red, Gold and Black.
This is important because to truly be dress like an Australian you must cover your body with from head to toe in our national colours. There are all sorts of Aussie motifs you can design, Southern Cross, Indigenous flag, Australian flag, British flag, New Zealand flag, stars, stripes and all sorts of coloured creations on your body.
2. Australian Flag.
You MUST go all out with your flags. There must be a flag tied around your neck, attached to your car’s side mirrors, one tied to the bonnet of your car (preferably a Holden car) and of course if you’re a bloke- you MUST tie one around your waist and make it look like you’re wearing a skirt.
3. Female attire.
Girls wear nothing but the smallest Australian flag bikini’s possible. Don’t buy your size, buy one smaller than you. Also, make sure you wear ripped shorts with you arse hanging out- don’t forget to spray tan! Finally, accessorise your outfit with the latest Aussie hats, bags, stubby holder and thongs.
4. Male attire.
Boys you have it easy, just throw on a Lycra body suit with five of your friends and high-five each other because you look so cool. If you prefer to keep it simple, you can always opt for the board shorts, double pluggers and to accessorise just tie a flag around your neck. If you do go for the second clothing option, don’t forget to spray tan!
5. My final fashion tip, your must-have accessory the stubby.
To complete your outfit you MUST have your beer can attached to you at all times. You can choose from popular brands such as VB, Carlton, XXXX and Tooheys. They will complete you outfit and say to the world “I am Australian”.
Make sure you wear your outfit in public spaces and scream out the national anthem where ever possible, especially around family’s who are trying to enjoy a quiet day. Also, if you are going into a crowded area try to drive your car continuously around the block while revving the engine really loudly and screaming at pedestrians.
Have a great Australia day everyone!
