So you’re at the club and you’re chatting away with a really hot girl that you just can’t keep your eyes off. You two have really hit it off and can’t help but smile at one another constantly. Hell, you may even be holding hands, or full on kissing. There’s the unspoken issue of making the next move to see if anything else will happen. Then it happens: the girl will ask you to come home with her.
Nightclubbing is meant to be a fun outing every week for young adult to go out and let their hair down and have fun. However, nightclubs are commonly seen as places to meet people or ‘hook-up’ with someone new. Does this mean that if you are in a relationship that clubbing could be off limits? Or should you club as a couple?
Guys: I’ll let you in on a little secret. When it comes to picking up in clubs, girls often try just as hard as guys do. You’re probably reading this and thinking, yeah right. But it’s true. Take it from a girl - often we’re just as keen to strike up a conversation with the opposite sex as you are.
The one thing many women can’t stand, but must endure when on the prowl for men are the many upon many sleazy men that are blatantly trying to get into the girl’s pants. Yes, a nightclub with sleazy guys is like McDonald’s with Big Macs, they’re a sure sight at either place. They give men a bad name and make life a lot harder for good blokes trying to meet a girl.
I know that girls get thrown hilarious pickup lines that leave you staring at your drink trying not to burst into laughter. I saw a funny page on Facebook that inspired me with these pickup lines. Now guys, please try and refrain from using these as they don’t work; unless of course, on the odd occasion your new lady friend is completely delusional.
We meet new people all the time, every single day. Meeting new people is not something foreign to us. However, when we get close to someone, we have to play the so-called ‘dating game’. We don’t play any games when we want to be friends with someone, yet we have to follow rules when we are going to be more than friends. We all become players.
Ok, so I generally loathe the term ‘indie’ or ‘hipster’, but like racist terms in the 1930s, they get people’s attention, allowing us to gather around the hate-monger fire and pretend we are better than people that we are actually just as awful as. I would consider myself a ‘geek’ in the sense that I’ve spent most my life dry-humping the orifices of pop-culture and wishing I could still afford Warhammer.
There are few things more frustrating than being accosted by unrelenting males who think you’re playing hard-to-get, when in reality they are simply too drunk or cocky to acknowledge your blatant attempts to escape. However, this does not suggest that girls who truly want to pick up are few and far between.
Um, so, I’ll be honest with you guys, had a pretty rough weekend. Got dumped. It was shit, but amidst all the tears and ice cream, I had an epiphany. I am now on the rebound. Fate has offered me a ‘proceed straight to GO, collect $200, and slut it up without any lasting consequences’ card. Guess I gotta play the hand I was dealt
Generally speaking, the likelihood of a guy and girl hooking up is often judged by the guy’s actions, how charming he is, being a smooth talker, and even just by his demeanor. If he stuffs up in any of these departments, the girl’s turned off and ditches him. But as the old saying goes, it takes two to tango, and the girl has to act in a civilised, adult manner as well.
