Nightclubbing is meant to be a fun outing every week for young adult to go out and let their hair down and have fun. However, nightclubs are commonly seen as places to meet people or ‘hook-up’ with someone new. Does this mean that if you are in a relationship that clubbing could be off limits? Or should you club as a couple?
Most people can meet a one night stand or their life-long partner at the nightclubs, because there are so many varieties of people at the clubs. If you are a girl in a nightclub, you are bound to get hit on or asked to dance, or even just asked if you would like a drink. Sometimes this kind of attention is a compliment for women and they enjoy the male attention, but the change of a relationship status can mean the change of your feelings towards the clubbing scene. This doesn’t mean that you have to completely stop clubbing.
It may be an awkward thing to do at first, but if you’re comfortable in your relationship, clubbing can be a great night on the town. It all comes down to where you choose to go and what kind of people are there. Some special events nights, such as ladies night may not be the best idea, because they tend to attract a certain kind of attention to both guys and girls.
Realistically, the rules to going out clubbing as a couple are simple:
1. Dress Appropriately
You don’t have to cover even part of your body until you resemble a nun, but you need to cover more skin than when you were looking for male or female attention.
2. Act Responsibly, No Reckless Flirting
This means no reckless drinking and no plastering yourself along the concrete just so your partner can pick you up, but more importantly you need to realise that you can’t be your old flirty self (after all you are in a relationship). A balanced night works wonders.
3. Have Trust In Yourself And In Your Partner
Most importantly, you need to trust each other, whether you’re out clubbing alone or together. You need to realise that the other person loves and trusts you and that everything is going to be fine, just dance and let loose with that special someone.
