PSY must be slitting his wrist right about now as The Harlem Shake has already pushed ‘Gangnam Style’ aside on YouTube, making it an oddity from all the way back in 2012 that people are forgetting about already. (Seriously; I actually forgot what his name was until only a moment ago!).
For the past month or two, the world has experienced ‘Gangnam Style’, an immensely popular song with a horse whipping-like dance from Korean rapper PSY, and his career’s just skyrocketed since.
(I am well aware we are already a month into spring right now, but as I live in Melbourne where the forecast is cruel and volatile, you can understand my timing. That whole month was the adjustment period)
If you’re regularly on either Facebook or YouTube, it’s pretty likely that you’ve come across the term “gangnam style” a few times recently. For those who don’t know what Gangnam Style is, it’s a dance from the music video of a Korean rap/dance song of the same name by rapper PSY, parodying the hipster district of Gangnam in Seoul.
