The Lion Hotel is designed to receive everyone, with its intimate booths for the couple, long tables for the gang and bar stools surrounding barrel tables for the smaller groups. The pub is populated with primarily late 20s, 30s and sprinkled with older generations of men who gather and unite over a sporting match and a beer. There are a couple of pool tables, however fresher-faced gentlemen who are quicker to the cues continually occupy them.
Lounge is a dynamic venue steeped in contemporary bar folklore. Having started with a bang on the Melbourne social landscape in 1989 it has evolved as a steward of bar and cafe culture. It remains as a staple amongst punters. Up a narrow staircase directly off Swanston Street, you enter an open room. Here you are met with furnishings of industrial undertones and music with depth and warmth that instills comfort and confidence. The staff are well informed, hospitable and interesting. With beverage in hand make your way toward the spacious balcony and enjoy being in the heart of the city, a level above the bustle and the freedom of plein air. Once that's done move inside have lunch, a snack or dinner. Then a gentle cocktail or a crisp beer and rest until the dance music moves you.

Since its launch 24 Moons has cemented its reputation as a cultural hub in the CBD. It is at once an underground cocktail lounge, bar, and performance space - a modern day speakeasy. Its lifespan in its current location is pre-set to 2 years, or 24 Moons, after which it will reinvent itself elsewhere. The Modern Day Speakeasy vision incorporates a lively programme of performative elements into the cocktail bar environment, hence evolving from and building on the origins of the speakeasies of the 1920's, where Jazz, striptease and light entertainment were staged. The speakeasy was also a vibrant hub of night-people, visionaries, and thinkers.
The afterdark has been operating since feb 2006. Predominately a bar we also host live music during the week and monthly art exhibitions. We pride ourselves on giving students and first time exhibitors a chance to get started with this free hanging space, advertising and our full support.

Featuring restored lounges and chandeliers, the Alchemist Bar succeeds in creating the aura and atmosphere of a medieval lab of some distinction. Truly a unique venue, the Alchemist Bar experience is a great way to experience your favoured potion or poison, whatever the night may call for..
