1. Do not drink with people you don’t trust, or who you have had issues with previously.
Giving someone the opportunity to embarrass, harass or take advantage of you can be heightened when you’re intoxicated. This includes drinking with your ex-partner. Issues can arise from being drunk and in the same club as someone that you have previously had feelings for. Just make sure you’re with good friends that you can rely on in the case of a disaster or complication.
2. Do not drink on an empty stomach!
It is said that you should eat a heap of greasy food before you drink to prevent a hangover and it is not a myth. The food not only keeps you full, but it prevents that nasty sick stomach feeling the morning after. There is nothing worse than a sick stomach and a head ache.
3. Do not drink in isolation; it’s good to drink with company.
As sad as it is, many young people have been known to have accidents as a result of drinking alone. Although it may not be practical to drink with someone all of the time, it is good to drink with a friend. Drown your sorrows together rather than by yourself.
4. Do not drink a bottle of vodka or Jim Beam to yourself. Drinking is better when it is shared.
On that note, share the drink or portion it out rather than just tackling it all at once. Unless you are the mighty Hulk, than it is best to pace yourself while drinking. Binge drinking sometimes isn’t the best way to drink.
5. Do not drink under the influence of drugs (medical or not).
Make sure you know what is in your system before you drink and make sure that your medications are compatible with alcohol. You want to enjoy your night out. Don’t end up in a hospital bed in the morning. This includes covering your drinks and watching who gets your drinks. It is better to be safe than sorry.
6. Do not drink and drive!
Obviously it is against the law to drink and drive, but so many people still do it. It is a no-brainer, but sometimes a drunken body has no brain. If you want to live through the night, then before you start drinking, get someone to hide your keys from you or give them to a designated driver.
7. Do not drink heavily in your best clothes.
When you drink too much, your body tends to reject it and this causes your outfit to go from white to yellow. Yuck! Right? Well, a little known fact between most girls is that when they go clubbing, black is their best friend. It’s slimming, cute, and most of all, stain resistant. No beverage spills or anything else for that matter.
8. Do not drink emotionally.
It is hard to detach your emotions from something like drinking, because it can be an escape for many people. Sometimes we celebrate and drink because of that, but a mixture of sadness and alcoholic consumption could be disastrous.
9. Do not drink and go close to fragile objects or falling hazards.
That special vase at your parent’s house may be very valuable, so while you are throwing a pre-night out party, put it away. Stay away from hazardous areas while you are drinking too. Cliffs, the water, steps and any sharp edged objects can be fatal and downright painful.
10. Do not mix too many drinks if you want to avoid that nasty hangover.
To avoid that horrid hangover from hell, make sure to take proper precautions. Drink a lot of water and eat up before hand. Go to the toilet as frequent as possible. Most of all don’t mix too many drinks, because it can result in a painful empty feeling the next morning when all that alcohol is kicking away in your stomach.
Best of all, just have fun and stay out as long as possible. You only live once!
