Tucked away from the hustle of Melbourne's CBD, Randy Dragon sits Hidden amongst the lane ways and alleys of Flinders Lane. Style, randomness and ckeekiness are synonymous with Randy Dragon's many moods. Midweek shes a relaxed after work hotspot, with a spacious lounge area, horned chandeliers, and opulent leather furnishings. As the working week comes to an end, she dims the lights and slips into a night club where snake charmers, belly dancers on the bar, fire eaters or a dominatrix handing out candy, could be few of the things you might see as you end up dancing into the early morning.

Randy Dragon Review

Review by Kimmy Morman

Secluded on the sophisticated Flinders Lane, the taboo nature of Randy Dragon evokes both sensuality and curiousty in its patrons. Located metres underground, this well kept secret is one of the finest oriental taprooms in Melbourne City. With a plain painted door, like most precious bars inMelbourne, Randy Dragon is inconspicious in nature and is never too crowded.

The chameleon like bar doubles as an interior designers Utopia, with plush leather couches you can't help but sink into. Dimmed under the illumination of candles, curtains and Chinese dragons excentuate the threatrical decor of the bar. Of course, not to be missed is the sharp-horned chandeliers, which you cannot help but feel intimidated by, as they hover over you ordering your next cocktail.

The bar is spacious and allows for complete relaxation, however a private room is available for parties and events. With a sophisticated yet relaxed approach to hosting, this is a perfect spot for before a big night out, or a casual debriefing for corporates.

The sounds streaming from the bar are temperamental - a relaxed mix of funky soul and house, delighting customers with its unpredictability. Every so often, an experimental, oriental melody arrives, balancing the spiritualatmosphere of the room.

Randy Dragon attracts weeknight party-goers in their 20s and 30s, with the after work suit bearers clearing out aound 7pm to make room for the younger ones ready to drink up and spend some cash. Saturday night accommodates for those on a ladies night - making the most of the "Two for One" cocktailspecials.

However, it's no problem if you can't make Randy Dragon on the weekend. The bar showcases drink specials every night of the week. Tuesdays and Wednesdays host "Longer Lasting Happy Hour", and Thursdays are a tad cheekier, offering a "Rub a Dub, Everything in the Tub $5 special".

One can quench their thirst by sampling one of Randy Dragons custommade concontions, and the list of cocktails is overwhemling. The "Kermit's Nightcap" is particuarly delicious - by recommendation of the friendly staff working the bar.

Whilst only beverages are poured at Randy Dragon, the ample amount of Chinese eateries near Flinders Lane means a great night of wining and dining can be had without spending too long on foot.

With no door charge, DJs and competitive drink specials, you have nothing to lose but your loyalty to other highly-acclaimed Melbourne watering holes by visiting. I dare you to experience the sultry saloon that is Randy Dragon - you'll be hard pressed to find a reason not to return.
