This ancient art form is not one that is set in stone nor is there a perfectly accurate “Approaching Girls for Dummies” handbook. However, being one of the rather diverse and confusing gender, here are a few tips on how to approach a girl at the club.
Dear Guy Friends,
You may not know who you are. What I mean is, you might not be aware you fit into the category of ‘guy friend’ or what qualities even make a guy friend.
Whenever my friends and I go out for a night of drinking, we always take photos throughout the night. Mostly, we forget about these photos for a few days after and then go through them and laugh at our hilariousness (actually our messiness). As a courtesy of our friendship, we usually delete unflattering photos or keep them to laugh at secretly together.
Let’s face it, we’ve all been the new 18-year-old going clubbing for the first time. It’s exciting, adventurous and fun. But for those older, we see it as fresh meat stepping on our territory. The younger generation of clubbers tend to dress sluttier, have higher heels, bigger hair and be drunker than your 40-year-old sleazy uncle at family gatherings.
Whether you realise it or not, boys, you are being judged just as much as girls in clubs. From your physical appearance, to your personality, to the way you treat a lady. Girls are always watching.
The way to a girl’s heart in a club is to buy her a drink, or two. Girls love nothing more than having the attention on them and feeling special by that handsome boy purchasing her liquids. However, getting their drinks bought for them, is not something that comes naturally for all girls.
Because gender inequality needs to tip in the favour of females sometimes.
Not really. Well yes, but girls can do lots of things that are socially unacceptable for boys (without questioning their sexual orientation/macho-ness), like wear skirts and put glitter stickers on our faces and freak out about horoscopes and stuff.
It’s the age old question of why do girls take so many photos of themselves. Isn’t one enough? (Um…no).
I guess it comes down to the fact that most girls are insecure and taking photos of themselves is a way to heighten their self esteem.
If you are from Melbourne, y’all might remember a little thing called SUPERDISCO. SD was Prince of Wales on a Saturday night and was lots of fun when it was kicking around circa 2010-2011 until it got closed down.
When you think about it, nightclubs are where we are at our most animalistic. The d-floor is littered with sweaty, pheromone oozing bodies, gyrating in time with the rhythmic and primal vibrations of drum and bass. We actually go to them in order to attract a mate with the girls showing off a lot of skin and some of the guys acting downright predatory.
