On any given night, in any given group, there are different personality types interrelating. These personalities may seem disparate, but together they have a kind of symbiosis. Depending on the mood of an evening they can be your best friend or your worst enemy.
The 5 main going out personality types are…
1. The Emo Drunk: This is the friend who always gets emotional to the point of tears toward the end of a night out. Every first world problem they have seems to accumulate into one big release. You may have to end up babysitting this type, but these break downs can be great bonding experiences.
2. The ‘I’ll just stay for one’: This is the person who lives their life like a sample pack. They always have so many places to go, but only allow themselves a small amount of time at each event. These people never truly immerse themselves into a night but are very organised and have great time management skills.
3. The ‘Tries to make a thing out of nothing’: This personality type belongs to those who won’t give up on a night. This is the person who sits in the rain at the ‘spring’ races cheering at the horses they can just see when they squint through the down pour, while everyone else has gone to the pub. This is the person who tries to insist that a night out is fun even when it’s dead and everyone wants to go home. This is the personality type who seems to have an internal alarm which goes off every time you finish a drink. You have your last sip and they’re there asking if you want to go to the bar. They’re the ones who look at you blankly when you say you’re not drinking tonight - “Why, are you pregnant?”. They can be good for energising you when you really want to make a good time happen, but they often leave you pointlessly exhausted when your energy could have been saved for an actual good night.
4. The ‘I’ve got somewhere better to be’: This person acts like they are superior to everyone in the bar/club. They shoot you funny looks as they gesture at a fellow punter who they feel is below them. They act like the crowd in a bar is a classroom full of children or like they’ve entered a zoo. They are always checking their watches and talking about this other bar and what that place has that’s better. They talk about what they did last weekend or what they plan to do the next rather than trying to enjoy the moment they are in. They would benefit from hanging around number three more. This type is good for finding out about new places but only if you want to heard a superficial and pretentious review.
5. The Fake Drunk: This person is always over the top. They are often loud and like to dance a lot. They have great natural energy, but can be annoying when you’re trying to to have a more relaxed type of evening. They tend to embarrass themselves which can be good for laughs or detrimental by association.
So which type are you?
