Defining this is somewhat difficult, so instead I will draw the audience participation card and let you do the work for me.
Imagine you are drunk, in a street somewhere, unsure of the location of your destination, fresh out of a taxi, and desperate to pee. Or you are in a long line for a club that will not let you go in to use the facilities, desperate to pee. Every shop or restaurant or 7/11 you enter tells you there are no public toilets, patrons only, and even if you buy one drink that doesn’t count - you are still not a patron. You preserve and keep asking in your most sober polite voice can you please use their bathroom just for one little minnie, you will be so quick, but are continually met with disappointment, like you are in the twilight zone (I don’t like this story).
Until, finally, one kind and loving bottle shop worker overcomes his fear of you destroying their bathroom with vomit and and bad aim and other general gross stuff you would do because ya tanked, and lets you use the toilet.
How do you feel at this point? Elated right? Juxtapose this incredible happiness and relief you feel from this better-than-sex pee you are currently having with the desperation and sorrow beating you down 30 seconds ago. You love this bottle shop person. They should be recognised by the Red Cross and Amnesty International for their outstanding human compassion.
More private shop owners should follow in these heroic individuals footsteps.
