Though many rap fans think of Tupac and Biggie Smalls as the pioneers of rap, many seem to have forgotten that the 1980s happened before the 1990s, therefore have forgotten all the rappers of that decade. Big Daddy Kane was around years before those two hit their stride, and unlike them, is still alive and rapping.
Though nowhere near as well known in Oz as he is in the US, Kane has worked with several of the biggest names in rap, such as Tupac, Ice Cube, Public Enemy and Heavy D. There was even a joke about him in Scary Movie 2. So he’s not entirely unknown. So not unknown that is he heading to Australia for his first ever tour of Oz to remind us of the golden age of rap from the ’80s and ’90s.
With supporting acts J-Red, Candice Monique & Jamima Jonez with DJ Mzrizk, Lotus and Johnny Crates (a.k.a Idem) there to lend Kane a hand, this will be a great flashback to how great rap was before the days of autotune.
