Monsoon Bar- Northern Territory

If you haven’t already noticed, I spend quite a bit of time in Darwin during the dry.

I recently popped back up their and heard that Monsoon’s Restaurant and Party Bar was the place to be these days.

I definitely noticed the place was the alive with a cosmopolitan mix of people!

The dance floor, (very important note)  fits around 80 people comfortably,  in the middle of the venue and is near to impossible to miss. But it causes delays when you’re just trying to pass through to get outside. You enter Monsoon’s on the dance floor and then you hit the bar,  either way you must pass through a variety of  folk- so keep your bags close and your drink held high.

The music is Top 40 chart songs which makes it easy to sing along to. But hopeless if you aren’t into any of that music. I thought it would be smart if I got on the podium to avoid the floor crowd, but my plan came undone when the next three songs where impossible to dance to. Lucky for me Darwin never changes and you know Mysterious Girl by Peter Andre is on the song list ready to be played for all us women.

The dress code is whatever you want. It’s easy to tell who is travelling and who are Darwinites on a serious night.

Drinks prices are average ranging from $6.50 to $10, but there is a full bar to choose from. My recommendation would be Vodka, Cranberry and a slice of lime. This drink is refreshing in the Darwin heat.

There is a cover charge. We paid $10, so if you plan on going be prepared to pay the fee.

A hint: This venue is likely to get full quickly, so get there early and girls- think twice about heels.

This is the most common song still played in Darwin:
