The Australian Brewery Review

Review By Nerys Rodrigues

The Cool Room at the Australian Brewery is getting ‘cooler’ by the week. With a star studded DJ lineup, this Hills District nightclub is definitely the place to be!

The Australian Hotel and Brewery or Brewery serves up a mean mix of good music, drinks and an overall good time. The speciality of the Brewery is probably the “We Love Thursdays”, in which house spirits, beer and champagne are $5 all night. Yes, that’s right: $5. This is especially convenient for those on a budget as little can go a long way. The typical Thursday night crowd brings in young guns, ranging between 18-24 year olds, with an almost Greenwood-esque feel to the place. However, the Friday night and Saturday night companions include more mature adults who are there for a few drinks at the bar.

Inside this two-storey venue, the Brewery is very much a modern place to be. The downstairs comprises of two bars, a courtyard and the bistro restaurant. Here there is ample seating with tables, chairs and booths for patrons to chill out and relax with a few drinks. The interior adds a modern country feel, with rustic yet contemporary furniture. The dimmed lighting creates an intimate atmosphere for drinks, while the DJ out near the courtyard plays the hottest tunes to get you pumped for the nightclub.

The ‘Cool Room’ is home to some of Sydney’s biggest DJ’s, with the Starfucker’s DJs, Hook’n’sling and the Stafford Brothers as regulars on Thursday night. With special nights dedicated to Dubstep and RnB and also housing a performance by Flo-Rida, The Cool Room is the hottest place to be. Expect to find the big names on Thursday night, however Saturday with its resident DJ spins pretty much the best music in town. With a mix of urban, house and electro, you can definitely groove to the music here.

Entry to the Cool Room is $10, which is much cheaper than other venues. There are also 4 booths fully equipped with their own poles for a little pole-dancing to suit your pleasure! There is also another bar upstairs for your convenience. Apart from the Thursday specials, spirits will set you back at least $7 and wines and beers anywhere from $8.

As mentioned before the Brewery serves up a good meal, with cheap daily specials. With its bistro quite prominent expect to see a few kids for dinner in the family orientated times.

If you’re looking for a place that offers good music, cheap drinks and overall a good time and can’t be bothered to trek it into the city, then The Brewery is the place for you!

A 2nd Review of The Australian Brewery

Review By Bryce Sullivan

The Australian Brewery – or the Brewery as it is generally referred to – is the hottest new nightclub destination in the Hills district. Thursday nights are definitely the go at the brewery to take advantage of its $5 night. Yes, that’s right – only $5! All house sprits, a selection of beer and even bubbly for the ladies (or the men who like to show their metro side) are only $5. Other drinks will set you back a little bit more coins but their $5 selection is definitely adequate.

The brewery incorporates the use of an unusual combination of rustic and modern features to create a decor that will have you feeling as if you’re in a ‘modern outback’, which suits its location and creates a great atmosphere. Downstairs there are 2 bars, a beer garden and even a TAB for all you guys that DON’T like to bet… on the net. The beer garden has a great sound system set up with ample booths for you to sit down and chill out with your mates, or gabba your way onto the dancing area towards the back.

Upstairs however, or ‘The Cool Room’ as its known, is definitely the place the shiznit goes down. As soon as you walk up the stairs you’re belted with the feeling of bass running through your bones as the DJs pump out a mixture of new school and the much loved old school tunes all night long. Entry to the club is free, however it is pretty quiet up here until after 10pm. Unfortunately there are no lighting effects, but the atmosphere ensures you don’t even think about this. In The Cool Room there is also another great bar. This bar also serves the $5 drinks all night; however, some of the other drinks are $1 more expensive upstairs then down. In The Cool Room there are also 4 booths, each with a little stage and pole-dancing pole just for your (guy’s) enjoyment. These can be hired out but isn’t very necessary as throughout the night you can generally score a seat with your mates. Along with this there is also a smoking room upstairs so you don’t need to leave the club and you can continue mingling with your friends and enjoying the great DJ line ups.

The Brewery manages to get some great DJ acts on the line up, with past DJ’s including Timmy Trumpet and coming up DJ Nino Brown! All the information on upcoming acts can be checked out on The Brewery’s website and is advertised throughout the club.

If you feel peckish during the night, your taste buds can definitely enjoy a tantalising experience with the Brewery’s great menu selection. Some of the meals however are a little bit on the expensive side, but if you’ll settle for just some hot chips (and when I say some, I mean a lot) it’s only $7.

If your lucky enough to live close to The Brewery (within a 5km radius, although you can generally stretch this a little) you can enjoy the courtesy bus free of charge to take you home after your big, but surprisingly cheap night.Other nights of interest are; Friday night – R&B; DJ from 9pm in The Cool Room and Saturday Night – Top 40/dance DJ from 9pm in The Cool Room
