Give me urban groove with inner city swagger and shake it all up with the zest of Brunswick Street in Fitzroy and place it smack bang in the middle of the heart of the Northern Beaches, Manly, and you’ve got yourself The Pony Room.
Small business owners delight in the fact that Manly has now turned into a place where people turn their heads to catch a glimmer of Sydney’s new wave of style. The Northern Beaches now not only has the best way to spend a hot summer’s day but also has the remedy to cure any old case of night time blues.
Drawing from the artistic, hipster styling of famed areas such as Newtown in Sydney and Fitzroy in Melbourne, The Pony Room provides a stylish yet chilled out space to hang your hat of an evening and settle in for a while. The guys behind one of the areas most popular new locals have managed to remind us all that the mundane experience of your standard old pub is now simply a matter of choice. There is no longer room for complaint about lack of quality booze dens for a night out in Manly.
Mismatched rustic/retro furniture adorn the 3 separate hideaways that you discover after stepping out off the street from the astro-turf laid neatly outside of the front door. Each area has its own unique vibe.
The main bar area is the hub of the atmosphere created by your typically stylish local crew and quality tunes always present. From this you walk through a more personal dinning type of seating area, perfect for a private catch up for a group of friends, into the back area, home of cozy couches and flagrant charisma, perfect for chilling out whilst meeting new people. The whole place is perfectly lit with soft lighting and framed neatly with qualities such as cocktails served in old jam jars and drink menus plastered across pre-loved long neck bottles. Even the bathrooms look like something out of one of Banksy’s street art exhibitions rather then your run of the mill can.
The Pony Room runs rampant with style and flare without attempting to leave behind its key demographic or drifting away from that relaxed, easy going attitude that makes Manly what it is and what it became famous for.
