Ahoy! Welcome to the Angry Pirate, a small bar anchored at 125 Redfern Street, Sydney. Come down and join the crew and try our swashbuckling cocktails made from a vast array of secret recipes and our own barrel-spiced grog. Exceptional local craft beer and cider on tap from Young Henry’s and The Grifter. A small but perfectly formed list of fine wines, harking from these shores or across the seven seas. Classic Pizzas from our galley, hand-made by our very own Italian Pirate (until 11pm every night).

What To Expect @ The Angry Pirate

Review By Vashti Lonsdale

Ahoy mateys! Get ready to sail the stormy seas as The Angry Pirate takes you on a journey back in time to the days of the pirate booty and sea shanties.

Nestled amongst the newly rejuvenated suburb of Redfern that locals now refer to as ‘the Fern', The Angry Pirate fits seamlessly into this upcoming alternative nightspot to the surrounding areas of Newtown – Surry Hills. Within walking distance to a handful of popular neighbourhood bars such as Arcadia Liquors and the American style tavern The Dock, this kitsch boutique style bar holds its own. From the nautical striped uniforms of the bar tenders to the sea shanties played throughout the stalls of the bathrooms, this recently opened gem has set the bar high for Redfern St.

A mere 5 min walk from Redfern station this well designed venue carries a great vintage wood oak feel seen in the decor, specialising in a variety of themed cocktails - my personal favourite being the Hemingway Daiquiri an eclectic mix of Grapefruit Juice, Lime, Rum and Maraschino Liquor. Reasonably priced drinks that won't break the bank with most standard shelf basics offered for under $10.00 and cocktails around $15.00. Host to both after work crowds and pre-drinkers alike, patrons can also enjoy a perfectly fuss proof menu of specialty wood fired pizzas that don't disappoint - The Flying Dragon being a public favourite.

The finest feature of this establishment has to come down to the great hospitality of its staff, quick attentive service, happy to have a chat not to mention being expert mixologists. You may be thinking “arggghhh” themed bars are so tacky, well remove your eye patch as The Angry Pirate’s subtle themes and signature cocktails are neither tacky nor tasteless.
