La Cita Review

Review By Ben King

The Sydney clubbing scene provides an eclectic mix of class, sophistication, casual and messy venue's to spend a weekend in. Whether you are heading to King's Cross, Circular Quay, the CBD or the suburbs, the city of Sydney provides revellers with a little taste of everything. In saying that though, some venues out there possess one spectacular quality that seldom others can replicate. A single quality, endowed on venues based on their location, and more specifically, proximity to the harbour.

Located on Sydney's iconic King Street Wharf, La Cita is the destination of choice for any partygoer looking to experience the best South American inspired experience in Sydney, right on the footstep of Darling Harbour.

Catering for all ages, La Cita boasts 2 floors being the restaurant upstairs and nightclub downstairs. The restaurant, overlooking Darling Harbour provides an exquisite array of South American dishes, including a tapas (obviously) as well as a couple of set menus, which I highly recommend.

After dinner however is when the fun really begins. Head downstairs to La Cita's nightclub to experience a little taste of South America. Although a relatively small venue by Sydney standards, the music and atmosphere of this venue seems to be amplified by it's interior and relatively basic decor.

As one would expect, the real difference La Cita has from typical venues is the music. Latin beats permeate La Cita till the early morning, creating an upbeat atmosphere, where people simply go to have fun, leaving any pretentiousness or inhibitions at the door. Once more, La Cita is smoker friendly with an outdoor area looking straight across Sydney's beautiful Darling Harbour.

Drinks prices are relatively standard for King's Street Wharf (meaning a little more expensive then average), however given the niche experience this venue provides, coupled with it's location I felt it was a very small price to pay.

Although catering for all ages with the restaurant upstairs, the ages of the clubbers downstairs tends to be scantily dressed under 25s, which again is testament to the authentic Latin theme. There is definitely no shortage of amazing looking guy's and girls here out to have a good time.

La Cita is definitely the place to go for a special occasion, and whilst I wouldn't make it my regular weekend destination, for a change or to impress that special someone with something a little more cultured, La Cita is the place to go.
