What to Expect @ The Balmoral Hotel

The Balmoral Hotel is a large pub on Victoria Park's major strip Albany Highway. The building itself is beautiful and very spacious with plentiful outdoor seating both in a deck area with street views and a beer garden out the back. It also features a large dining area which has an extensive menu with something for everyone and full table service. The food is quick to the table and the dining staff were efficient, pleasant and very friendly - despite a relatively full restaurant they still found time to check in and replenish drinks orders.

The bar area is very open which allows for a cool breeze to be felt through the interior on warm nights and gives the whole place a wonderful friendly feeling. Impressively the bar has 16 beers on tap and one cider. There is also an extensive wine list with glasses ranging from $6.50 to $9.90 or you can get a vodka, lime and soda for $8. The bar staff can be a little slower than those in the restaurant but the fair prices and wide selection manage to make up for it.

With its friendly vibe and casual atmosphere the bar is a popular place and makes for a great local. The crowd is very varied with people ranging from 20 to 40 years old. Both the inside and outside has seating and there are a couple of pool tables available for games towards the rear of the main room. The Balmoral is also available for events and like many bars in Perth hosts a quiz night every Tuesday.

The Balmoral Hotel is a nice bar; friendly and comfortable with plenty of seating outside which in Perth is always a plus in the summer. However, the bar lacks anything truly original. For those living in the area it's a great local hang and if you're in the mood for a casual night out then it is perfect but if your looking for somewhere with a bit of imagination or individuality then maybe you should try one of the smaller bars closer to the city centre.
