With mass events looming such as Christmas parties and family gatherings, end of year birthdays and New Years Eve celebrations, there are going to be a few of you that get left with the disappointed friend favour of being designated driver. Unfortunately, everyone has to do it once in a while and whether it means having a couple of drinks or none at all for all you P platers, there are some benefits of being designated driver. When I say some I mean very few.
When you’re out hitting the clubs, there is nothing worse than getting followed around by a guy that is nice, but way too keen. If you are not interested in him and you try to drop a few hints but nothing works, than there is a full-proof way to ensure that you don’t waste your night dodging a guy. This method is also a great way to deter guys from you when you are in a relationship and just trying to have a good night out with the girls.
As if celebrities don’t have enough money already, they have to find ways to keep making even more cash. They seem to have taken note from the movies and music videos they’ve been in from the blatant product placement in them (Man Of Steel‘s climatic showdown, anyone?), and figured they can use themselves to promote their own products. And what product will make them look cooler than any other? Booze, of course!
Starting a brand new business must be so nerve wracking, easily one of the most stressful things a person can do. Putting all this cash you’ve gotten from various investors and sources (not to mention out of your own pocket!), everyone wants to make sure the business is going to be successful. But if your new business happens to be a nightclub, there is so much more than money to consider.
Star Bar opened its renovated doors last week to reveal a whole new decor that what we have previously known. The grungy bar has transformed their upper level into a gorgeous club experience. While still being scanned with a metal detector upon entry (yes, those are just my keys), the middle and lower level combine plenty of seating areas and pool tables for a chilled night out or pre-drinks before a big event. But up the stairs, Level One adds a whole new glitzy glam that George Street has never known.
Stereosonic hit Sydney and Perth over the weekend and caused an earthquake of fake tans, weird pupils and ass shorts. Two whole days of going hard and getting sun burnt is a requirement of the music festival that will move on Brisbane and Melbourne this weekend.
Stephen Merchant, British comedic actor and co-creator of The Office, has recently created and starred on another hit TV show called Hello Ladies, where his character Stuart lives in Los Angeles hoping to meet the woman of his dreams, provided she’s a gorgeous supermodel who by proxy makes him the cool dude he only wishes he could be. I didn’t get into this show straight away, but after a few episodes, I got sucked in.
In a girl’s life, there are few things that will compare to her love for shoes. Chocolate and puppies will come close, but they cannot compare to matching your new shoes to your outfit. Love with a man is somewhere way down the list. This is one of the reasons why, no matter how much pain you are in, girls will wear heels.
This weekend, thousands of fake tanned, waxed and barely clothed boys and girls (Yes! Boys AND girls) will compare selfies while popping pills and checking out each others’ muscle tone. That’s right! It’s Stereosonic!
Many of Melbourne’s bar and media people gathered at the new South Yarra bar The Emerson for the first Time Out Melbourne Bar Awards on Monday November 25th. Happening on The Emerson’s rooftop bar with its gorgeous view of Commercial Road (expect for the construction happening across the road), with many complimentary Rekorderlig ciders, Sail & Anchor beers, Havana rum cocktails and Tempus Two wines flowing (score!).
