One article of ours that got heaps of attention earlier this year discussed whether nightclub photographers should consider the implications of taking raunchy photos of scantily clad girls making out and doing other provocative things (i.e. showing off their hot bods). Though that article was more so about how all this affected photographers, I’d like to take a stab at this issue from another angle; why are these bloody girls pashing each other to begin with?
They say that a person’s taste in music is a key to their soul, to get an idea of what they’re like on the inside. In this increasingly digital world where CDs on a shelf are slowly becoming a thing of the past thanks to downloading tunes onto your laptop, this isn’t possible as it used to be. The best way to do this would be to look at the music page on someone’s Facebook to see which bands and singers they liked.
During my recent adventures in America, I had desired to see as many bars and nightclubs as I could, wanting to see what their nightlife was like. I had heard stories about how you can drink booze anywhere on the streets of Las Vegas and how American bartenders put in more alcohol into their drinks than Aussie bartenders do.
Break ups suck. They cause a lot of pain and heartache, and basically your whole life changes (whether it’s for better or worse). I like to think most would do the mature thing and either go their separate ways or remain friends. But a lot of people get really immature and bitchy towards their ex and declare a never ending war on them.
Nightclubs are an interesting place of reckless abandon to inhibitions and social norms, where we can all kickback and let our drunken selves party hard. However, for the many peeps out there who work in nightclubs, it can be a draining and crazy job. Adelaide filmmaker Shannon Gunn explored the ups and downs of working in bars and nightclubs with her documentary The Late Shift.
I recently got back from a month long holiday to America, and what a country it is! Had an absolute blast there, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for good nights out. For those who haven’t been to America before, I had you in mind and took many notes so I could tell y’all what it’s really like from a Nightlife Correspondent’s point of view.
Many go out clubbing very intent on picking up, even if it is merely just a possibility. All guys think, “Oh my God, there’s going to be so many hot chicks, it’s gonna be sick!” So yeah, guys are very much on the prowl when they scan the club for a girl they like the look of and want to have a good time with.
Venues always open and close as trends in the pub industry. With this came the closure and relaunch of The Royal Hotel in Leichhardt in mid September with brand spanking new look and ways of offering its customers a great time. I spoke with The Royal’s General Manager, Mark Chapman, about all the great changes that customers can expect to soon see.
How friggin’ frustrating is it when two of your buddies are each hosting a party on the same night! Argh! You like both friends, but you know it’ll probably be difficult to go to both, or at least somewhat awkward in that you go to one party then leave it to go to another. (Though I guess you could always call yourself this huge party animal for going to two parties in one night, woot woot!).
Is it just me, but have you ever had a time when you went to a party or a nightclub with your friend and their friends, and for a while they’re really friendly and chatty and you have a good time with them, but then once you’ve all left the club and start going your separate ways, they’re suddenly much less friendly?
