“Hey, what’s your number? I will hit you up some time.” That classic line is much too common to some women, however, women continue to give men a ‘phone number’ even though they have no intention of sleeping with him, let alone texting him! Therefore, women have resorted to a tactic that seems to ease their conscience and at the same time portray eagerness. Although, is there anything wrong with handing out fake numbers? Should women continue to lead the sorry sod on? Or should we simply drop the bomb and put the man in his place.
Pros:
1. Women like to be noticed, call us attention-seekers if you must. One of the greatest feelings a woman can experience is that feeling of complete sensuality; walking into a bar (in particular) and testosterone filled men stare. With eyes wide and a dropped jaw, these thrusting animals want you, and only you. Call me egotistical, call me vain, but women not only love the recognition but also appreciate it when a man notices her beauty. Is this why we continue to give men fake numbers? The number may be fake, but it portrays a form of dominance to other women. When a man asks a woman for her number, women read this as, “See, he wants me, I am hot!”
2. Giving out a fake number to a much too eager man can secure a free drink night. Drinks are expensive when out, and women expect men to buy them drinks (common sense really), yet a woman’s integrity is questioned when she ‘uses’ and ‘abuses’ men’s wallets for her own personal gain. Gold-digger? I think not!
Cons:
1. This plan can fail epically! There is no reason for the bloke you are ‘intending’ on sleeping with to call the number you just gave him so you too can have his number. What happens then? Your phone obviously won’t ring; therefore ladies, have your excuses ready! Women, please refrain from making yourself look like a complete fool by using the excuse, “Oh my phone is dead so it won’t ring,” then begin to use your mobile. Awkward.
2. For some, giving out fake numbers can produce high amounts of guilt. Women may find themselves asking, “Why am I leading this man on?” However, the majority of women who give out a fake number have no problem lying about their contact details. My parents always did tell me, “Never talk to strangers.”
Handing out fake numbers is a tactic predominately used by women in the hopes to score free drinks, enhance self-confidence or simply have nothing better to do and never plan on seeing that man again. Yet men continue to run the risk by asking women for their number, which may or may not be correct let alone real. Therefore, women clearly maintain the upper hand and are obviously smarter then men, in particular drunk men.
