We all have our limits when it comes to alcoholic drinks. Knowing when to stop drinking is mandatory before you embarrass yourself, harass others, throw up or get yourself into trouble. Sometimes it is best not to cross the line between tipsy to drunk and disorderly. In the interest of safety and respect for the law, it is best to have at least one semi-sober friend too.
Everyone loves a drink or two, or more when they go out to the bars and clubs. Pre-drinks also influence our drinking habits, making it hard to understand when we have had too much to drink. Generally, it takes around an hour for the body to absorb alcohol and begin to show the effects of that alcohol on an individual. So if you have had around 5 pre-drinks and then you go out within the first hour and continue to drink, you won’t feel the effects of that alcohol until later. By the time you start to feel the effects of the first drinks, you may have had another 5 taking their toll on your body. This doesn’t mean that you can’t pre-drink, it is best to just be conscious of how much you tend to drink. Overall, if you want to have a good night out and remember it, it is best to spread your drinks out over the night and drink water regularly, or drink basics as an alternative to shots and high alcoholic content drinks.
Embarrassing moments occur to all sorts of people every single night. Getting inappropriate things drawn on your forehead could be the start, but even worse would be waking up face first in a toilet. There are just some things that no human being should have to experience as a side effect of drinking too much. Guys who get caught tied up in a public place wearing lingerie have been known to seriously regret the night before. Some girls get impregnated by a guy that they don’t even know. These are only two of the most extreme side effects that an intoxicated individual can experience after a hardcore night out.
Some pranks may seem harmless to begin, but in the end they can turn a night out into a nightmare. Urinating on a police car or mocking a person of authority can quickly land you in a cell, all because of a few too many drinks. A brush with the law is enough to sober up any drunken youth, so make sure to try and steer clear or trouble with authority figures.
A dangerous result of drinking too much can also quickly become a jail sentence. As seen on the nightly current affairs binge drinking has become a major problem with Australian youth. As a result, there is much more alcohol fuelled violence than ever before. In saying that, the girls are just as bad as the guys, so watching what you drink has never been more important. This allows you to be aware of your own actions as well as other dangers around you and your friends.
So next time you are reaching for your second drink, don’t forget to keep count!
