You get home from work on a Friday evening and do not feel like going out. You’ve had a long day, your boss probably yelled at you or you got singled out in a tute at uni. It’s probably raining too. How do you go from wanting to go to bed with a hot chocolate to hitting the town?
Step One: Nanna Nap
Twenty minutes is all you need. Forty-five is also good but anything longer will leave you wanting more. You want to feel revived, not like you want to keep sleeping. The key to a successful nap is how you get back up. Don’t reluctantly roll out of bed after a few stretches and yawns. You need to jump straight up. This will give you that sense of new beginnings that you need.
Step Two: Cold Shower
Go from the nap straight to the shower. Have a really thorough shower that leaves you feeling reborn. Then turn the hot all the way off to slap you awake. You will feel clean and sexy. You’ll want to go out and show off. Plus you will be shocked awake by the cold water.
Step Three: Music
Once you’re out of the shower, put some upbeat tunes on while you get ready. Make sure it’s music that will hype you up not put you to sleep music.
Step Four: Outfit
Just like a movie montage, try on different outfits. Pick clothes you haven’t worn in a while or which are new. Be creative and experimental. You never know what will look good and once you find something you’ll be keen to go show it off.
Step Five: Make Up
Like with your outfit, be experimental. You are squeaky clean after your shower, your face is a blank canvas. If you don’t trust your own creativity and skill, then find a YouTube make up tutorial. You can search by type of look i.e. ‘natural’, ‘smokey eyes’ or by celebrity i.e. ‘the Katy Perry look’.
Step Six: Booze
This is a sure fire way to get you amped for going out. A glass of wine while you’re getting ready will accompany and accentuate your exponentially growing desire to go out.
Step Seven: Food
You got to line that stomach or else you won’t last long. Food also gives you an instant energy boost. Don’t eat too much though or you’ll just want a siesta. Also, feeling fat and bloated will put you off going out.
Step Eight: Friends
Call your friends. Get one over to get ready together. Energise each other. Start pre-drinking with them and soon enough you’ll be running out the door.
