Brisbane‘s first real rooftop bar has opened and it doesn’t disappoint. Well, if you want to get blind drunk and have a messy night, it’s probably going to disappoint – it’s not that kind of place. Elixir Rooftop Bar is all class. Plus, it’s up three flights of stairs, so you really want your wits about you if you’re wearing heels.
In terms of location, it’s the perfect place to head after work on a Friday afternoon. For those of you who love Instagram, you’re sure to score a few likes with a rooftop photo. There’s a cool plant wall (trust me, it looks trendier than it sounds) that makes for a good backdrop. It’s worth getting to work a bit earlier if it means you can head off early and be at the bar to watch the sun set over the city. Because it’s a smaller venue it’s not ideal for large groups, but it’s a super cute place to take someone on a date. Guys, it’s not going to be the cheapest date but if it’s someone special, it’s definitely worth it. Call ahead and book one of the bungalow couches.
Despite the fact that the bar sits on a relatively open rooftop, you don’t have to be wearing a bear coat to stay warm – it’s pretty snug. Here in Brisbane, we’re often given a hard time about our relatively small night scene, but with the opening of the Elixir Rooftop Bar, I think it’s safe to say we’re growing up. All in all, I’d say this is a ‘start of the night’ kind of place. It’s somewhere to go with good friends for one nice drink, good photos and a chat before the night begins.
