Found myself in a bit of a pickle yesterday. Quite a pickle it was. I wanted to find a karaoke bar to go to and…I COULDN’T FIND ONE. Thanks for nothing, internet. Then I looked a little bit longer and found some links, but overall I assess the process as being too hard and too long and if I wasn’t a karaoke virgin desperate to let my talent loose over ‘kissed by a rose’ I would have definitely given up after about 30 seconds.
Then I (selflessly) thought ‘how many others might be stuck in my same pickle? Many, I assume, since everyone in Melbourne is studying accounting or wants to be a musician. So here you go, all the karaoke bars in Melbourne, in one place, for your viewing pleasure.
KBOX - “book now because you know singing is good for you”
You get your own singing space, so if anyone boo’s you it’ll be one of your friends and you can get them back and avoid wider public shame. You can sing in different languages and after you sing, the machine will tell you how many calories you’ve burnt. Well slap my ass and call me spanky. It’s prettyexpensive though.
Same deal as Kbox, sans calorie counting. Boasts potential for celebrity spotting.
Unlike our other contenders, Jankara is the best because it’s free! Just pay for your drinks! They do catering! This bar is cool because it is just like you imagine doing karaoke in the movies, no room hire, just drunken buds getting their song on. They only have 5000 songs across many languages. Brush up on your Japanese if you are die hard like me and plan to sing all night long.
Themed. Rooms.
Karaoke. And bowling. And laser tag. I imagine you would go here with a work christmas party.
