The 2013 lineup for Byron Bay’s annual Bluesfest Festival will offer much more hardcore rock than previous years than the blues and roots music the festival’s name suggests it’ll have. Marking the festival’s 24th anniversary, having both the more chilled bluesy acts you’d expect at Bluesfest from Chris Isaak and Santana to bands notorious for their yelling and screaming like Iggy & The Stooges and Dropkick Murphy’s, this will certainly be a memorable Easter long weekend to remember.
Though many believe we won’t live to see 2013 on account on the world ending (*cough* it’s a lie *cough*), here’s the lineup anyway in case Australia’s blues fans are still alive and kicking:
Ben Harper
Santana
Iggy & The Stooges
Steve Miller Band
Chris Isaak
Wilco
Bonnie Raitt
Dropkick Murphy’s
Glen Hansard with The Frames
Tedeschi Trucks Band
Newton Faulkner
William Elliott Whitmore
Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls
Grace Potter
Playing For Change
Ben Caplan
with many more acts to be announced!
Being a five day festival, anyone who wants to camp out to check the party at the festival from start to finish can do so. Different ticket options are available for those who just want to hang out there for one day and for those who want to camp out for all five days amongst their fellow hippies and blues lovers.
Bluesfest will be held at the Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm only 11km north of Bryon Bay, from Thursday 28 March until Monday 1 April. Tickets can be purchased at the Bluesfest website.
