It was 1999 on the dancefloor of Crush under 18′s dance party at the old Segaworld in Darling Harbour Sydney. Sporting bright orange keppers and I can’t remember the shirt, I picked up my first girl… Whilst listening to “We Like To Party” by none other then Dutch breakout group… THE VENGABOYS!!!
Now you can approach this article with 1 of 2 attitudes. One is to say to yourself “OMFG that commercial shit, I’m way too non-conformist to listen to that crap” OR you could you can “reach for the kleenex’s and think of your youth listening to the birth of mainstream electronic music with bright eyed wonder and amazement.”
If you happen to live on the West Coast and are looking to relive a bit of your teenage years then hop on the Vengabus (unavoidable anecdote) to the Metropolis Fremantle to see live the Vengaboys.
Now, in reference to my previous paragraph, there are obviously a few people adopting attitude number 2, as the 1st show completely sold out, and with no guarantee of a 3rd, you get your flouro skates on if you want a ticket, which will cost you about $51… However to my mind, it’s a small price to pay to concentrated nostalgia!!!
Tickets to the Vengaboys can be purchased from this link http://heatseeker.oztix.com.au/default.aspx?Event=23442
For a taste of what’s to come, below is a song you probably haven’t heard for 10 years, however will know most of the words whether you like it or not.
