Balcony Bar Review

Review By Jackie Leckie

What good bar doesn’t have a balcony looking over the city? Well this one does and has earned its name because it’s massive! I love going out for the night to a venue complete with a view – what a perfect destination on a warm summer’s night!

Situated on Little Collins Street in the heart of Melbourne city makes it the perfect position as it is close to everything. The Balcony Bar is aimed at women, but just as many guys turn up to have a drink with mates or try their luck with the ladies. Expect to see people aged from 20 upwards and functions are a common occurrence; keep this venue in mind next time you want to celebrate a big do.

The Balcony Bar has a relaxed vibe but can get crazy as the night progresses, so you can start and finish your night at the one bar. The interior is modern and sleek, with white leather and pale pink lighting which adds seductive, romantic touches to the venue, and the wooden decking along the glass balcony adds a great finishing touch. It’s not over done (like many places) and with a touch of greenery and roof to floor glass everywhere gives it an alfresco feel.

The Balcony rooftop is not short on seats. Pick one by the bar, or get the best seat in town and be mesmerised by the view. I have been here a few times to meet up with friends and it’s great because you can have a quiet chat outside and actually hear each other – or if you’re in the mood to party then go hit up the dance floor and watch the DJ spin some awesome tracks.

Craving beer, wine, spirits or cocktails? They have it all covered. Whatever tickles your fancy? Expect to pay normal bar prices. Beer and wine being the cheapest (from $5), or indulge and treat yourself (like I always do) and have a mixer for around $20.

And I’ll save the most important for last. Ladies…… What a great place to dance the night away as the rubber floors stop our poor feet aching in those killer heals. What an added bonus. With great music, great people and a comfy area to dance in, what more could we ask for? They really have thought of everything.
