What To Expect At Debacle
Written by Karolina Firman
Debacle is one of those eateries that straddles the line between pub and restaurant. It has the feel of a pub, close and comfy with lots of dark woods. With the food and atmosphere of a restaurant, with the food to match.
Most of the people that were there were younger people, mid twenties edging into early to mid thirties. That being said, when I went I went on a 2 for 1 pizza deal day, so maybe the clientele changes from day to day.
We went as a large group of friends and combined our forces (Captain Planet style). Honestly, the pizzas were great; I would recommend the Bombay chicken pizza, but the vegetarian was also delicious. They had a great balance of flavours, with a firm and crispy crust, in the end the deal worked out super cheap. That being said, they didn’t just have pizza on the menu, as they also had regular pub food but good quality pub food. They have a tasty chicken burger, as well as a fish and chips. There are also more unusual choices like endame beans (which are delicious, by the way) and roasted quail.
They had a nice range of alcohol as well. I drink beer, so the decent wine list was not an option. They have over 150 ales, beers and wines, with that range of choice it would be harder to find something you didn’t like. However, I did have a beer; they had a great pale ale that had a great balance of fruity overtones and a hoppy aftertaste.
In addition, they also have live music played by local bands, but as I was there on a quiet night I didn’t see any of the performances.
All and all if you want a casual night out with friends, Debacle is a good place to get a drink, food and good atmosphere, with some unusual food choices to satisfy your more adventurous friends.
