Iceworks Bar Review

Review by Jimmy Wall

Iceworks Bar is waiting to offer you a cool night out in Paddington across the street from Suncorp Stadium. Located in the old Ithaca Ice Works building – where they produced and sold ice to Brisbanites back in the days -, the venue now provides not only a good time, but also a very impressive selection of alcohol for their clientele to enjoy responsibly. A hard to miss place – not only for its location, but also for its cocktails and upbeat atmosphere.

The Iceworks Bar is hard to miss with its bright enticing exterior and open veranda. When inside it feels very open with white walls and stylish light wooden furnitures and panels. The bar is the focal point of the venue – managed by a very professional staff behind it, waiting to take care of you in the best way they can for the evening.

The clientele at Iceworks Bar ranges from 25 to 45 – give or take a few years. It's probably not a place to go if you have just turned eighteen and want to party like there is no tomorrow. However, even though Iceworks Bar has a more mature crowd, it is the perfect bar if you still want to have a good night out, but find the relaxed cocktail bars a bit too slow and quiet and the nightclubs a bit too loud and busy. It definitely has an upbeat vibe to it without the rowdiness.

The bar is one of the few venues in Brisbane which does not play music too loud. The sound level is decent enough which makes you feel you are out on the town rocking – while not having to shout to your friends so they can hear you.

Their bar menu is something you should not rush through, though. They have an amazing selection of tap and bottle beers on offer – there is even a tap dedicated to craft beer. The same goes for their wine and spirit collection. However their cocktail menu is a bit scarce, as they focus on quality – not quantity. Beers ranging from $6-$8, a glass of wine sits at around $9-$13 and cocktails at $16.

Iceworks Bar is a venue you want to visit if you want something that is not too busy, yet still a bit upbeat - a place which will let you experience a mix of both worlds. It will make you feel like you are hanging out at a chilled-out and stylish bar, however it will also provide you with that great upbeat club experience. Hang out in a more quiet area of Iceworks Bar or hit the dance floor to liven up the night a bit - the best of both worlds in one night!
