The Beat Mega Club houses five rooms each with their own distinct vibe. Perched at the crest of this Brisbane institution, the Cockatoo Club is definitely one of Brisbane's most fun-filled and fanciful clubbing nights. It is as much as an icon in Brisbane's gay community as Vegemite is of Australia. The music is quite commercial compared to the hard beats in the some of the other rooms. You will hear loads of gay anthems re-mixed into a progressive style. Think endless dance tracks of ballads and divas and you are on the right track. Through the sea of fluorescent-mesh singlets you may notice a few ravers taking a break from the happy-hard beats that the downstairs main room offers . You should have a laugh at a few of them who dare to stomp to Kylie or Madonna in their fat pants. If you are female and don't mind drag queens sporting better pins than you then this is the place to be.

There are regular drag queen performances, games, and promotions on each night of the week. Sign up to become a member for monthly member's nights with free drinks and give-aways. Jelly wrestling each Wednesday night should help ease your way through hump day quite nicely. Sunday Funday sees a line-up of regulars stretching along Brunswick Street from five pm onwards for free champers and a free BBQ on the deck. This is the club that just doesn't stop giving!

The Cockatoo Club is not pretentious so leave your attitude at the door, it's a great place where the regulars are friendly and it is definitely a great night for young, old, gay or straight. Open 8pm-5am all days except Sunday which opens from 5pm. Entry is usually around $10 depending on the day and time you arrive.
