The Bank Vault Lounge Review

Review by Rosalie Grace

Nestled smack bang in the middle of the Valley’s nightlife district, The Bank Vault, or just “The Bank”, is one of the most noticeable and iconic clubbing destinations in Brisbane. Free entry, cheap drinks and a good dance are what lures in bar and club hoppers in the area.

Being the bar’s namesake, a real bank vault complete with fake bank notes is located on the downstairs level and is the main element of the décor. This theme is featured throughout the bar, with the use of red velvet curtains creating a luxurious and modern feel.

Spanning two levels, the Bank offers a cosy but lively atmosphere. The street level is really just one big dance floor, with a large stage area for ambitious booty-shakers to bust a move. Keep an eye out for free shots, which are periodically handed out at random. Join in this mad dash or just laugh at drunk girls in high-heels battle it out!

Downstairs, the Bank offers a much more exclusive and relaxed vibe. Filled with comfortable leather couches and private booths, this is the perfect underground getaway from the bright lights and thumping bass. There is plenty of room to sit down, have a chat, pick up, or just nurse your poor dancing feet.

The crowd at the Bank is always a very interesting mix of characters and demographics. Because of its small size, the Bank is not somewhere people would usually stay for the whole night. Most of the patrons are usually under 25. However, with the nature of the bar being so come-and-go, it is easy to meet people of all ages and walks of life.

The DJs at the Bank generally play hip-hop and R&B; style music, and the bar definitely has an urban feel to it. You do often come across the odd lone, seedy stranger on the dance floor, however this is all part of the experience in the Valley!

In terms of drinks, prices are fairly standard at the Bank, with basic spirit mixes usually priced around $7. However, the bar is known to offer cheaper drink specials on a Thursday night and has more affordable “happy hours” throughout the week. And don’t forget – you never know when you could score a free shot or two!

Interestingly, The Bank also sells its own wood-fired pizza. This is a tasty way to soak up the alcohol or fuel up for some more dancing – and is much nice than the usual McDonald’s run!

The Bank Vault Lounge is a great stop on your adventures in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. Because of its free entry and competitive drink prices you really don’t have a reason not to give it a go. Meet a variety of interesting personalities, chill-out in the downstairs lounge or become that sleazy grinder on the dance floor!

A Second Review of The Bank Vault Lounge

Review By Renae Soppe

The Bank Nightclub occupies the prime position on the corner of The Brunswick Street Mall and Ann Street. Well known for its RnB and Hip Hop music, my favourite aspect of this club is that it always has fun themed nights and free entry. On Thursdays this club gives way to Urban Economizer Thursdays, were old school flavour is mixed with recent urban music and blasted from the sound systems while talented hip hop dancers occupy the stages. This night offers cheap basics, house wines and beers and surprisingly cheap basic cocktails.

This club offers two different atmospheres in one. The ground level is the official Bank Nightclub with bar, dance stages and DJ booth. Downstairs (underground) is The Vault Lounge. This lounge area provides a relaxed getaway from the club upstairs with its own bar and numerous comfy couches, stools and segregated rooms. The best part about The Vault Lounge is that it actually has a real bank vault! This vault is placed behind bars with fake American money spilling out of the open bank safe door. It made me wonder if they had put fake Australian money in the vault, how many people would have tried to pick up a couple of extra bucks after a few too many drinks.

The Bank Nightclub is accompanied by its own Wood Fired Pizza Shop. And I was delighted by the fact that I didn’t have to serve my late night hunger with an overpriced piece of pizza reminiscent of a piece of cardboard. The Bank Wood Fired Pizza’s offers an amazing 50% off all their fresh wood fired pizzas on Wednesday and Thursdays that can be enjoyed along with your drink from the club in their alfresco seating area.

While munching down on fresh quality pizza and sipping on cheap drinks, The Bank Nightclub and The Vault Lounge are a great place to hang out with friends and relive the urban beats from your school days.
