Set in the heart of Fitzroy, Alia Bar caters for every crowd. Whether you’re 18 or 50, the bar is perfect for a casual get together, first date or even a dance floor workout.

Advertised as being located on Smith St, the entrance is actually on Gertude St.

For this reason, the bar is unique to those who know of it. It draws a perfect crowd allowing enough room to breathe in the small venue.

The highlight of the bar is its diverse decor. The retro surroundings consist of mood lighting and landscape wallpapers. Elevated above the dance floor are Melbourne’s most comfortable lounges – once you sit down, there is no way you would want to get back up.

The lounges are circular and sit approximately 10 people. They are broken up into private sections and provide a very intimate and comfortable experience.

The atmosphere takes relaxing to a whole new level. The music is played at a perfect tempo. It is loud enough to dance to but still quiet enough to have a conversation with the person next to you. Unlike some bars, you will be happy to know your voice box will still be intact when you leave at the end of the night.

The bar’s music changes every night. A variety of DJs play at the venue from Wednesday to Sunday. Saturday’s RNB/Commercial music night is most popular.

The bar staff are fun and friendly and almost add to the night’s entertainment. Another highlight is the quality cocktails, spirits and wine. The bar caters for all tastes. The price of cocktails range from $14 – $17. If you love cocktails then the Velvet Sailor or Fitzroy Flash is for you.

The Velvet Sailor is a tantalising combination of Absolut Vanilla Vodka, Frangelico, lime and cloudy apple juice. It is then topped with fresh mint. The Fitzroy Flash is a Sweet combination of Havano White Rum, Ameretto mixed with lime and pineapple juice.
