What to Expect @ The Chelsea Hotel

By Emma Trkulja

If you're after an ideal location for pre-drinks before a big night in the city, or just for a friendly local bar to catch up with friends, the Chelsea Hotel Chatswood is your bar of choice. Located just down the street from Chatswood station, Chelsea Bar contains a stylish and city-like interior with the character of a casual friendly pub.

With four main seating areas there is a wide selection of rooms to enjoy your night in. Have a drink and benefit from the summer rays in the outdoor section, which has many long-tables perfect for a lunch with friends or after-work drinks. Downstairs you can also buy a wide array of beverages at the lo-bar and catch up on the latest news and sport on the bar's flat screen television. If you're in a lucky mood there is also a carpeted gaming room filled with an array of pokies machines that are accompanied by bowls of mints and lollies.

Upstairs the hotel's interior has a stylish modern design with red carpet and dark wooden tables topped off with luxurious red leather couches. There are two pool tables in the aviary section, but if you're not in the mood for a game you can sit in the intimate banquettes that offer an opportunity for privacy.

In the main section you will find the hi-bar, plush with a variety of drink choices. The best are the cocktails, usually around $15 but on a Thursday night you can purchase them for $8 and on Friday nights Absolute cocktails are only $7.50. Vodka and bourbon drinks will set you back around $7, and a glass of wine starts off at around $5. The average price of a schooner at Chelsea will start you off at about $5, however they feature a beer of the month that they will offer for a better price. Happy hour is from 4:00 to 6:00pm Monday to Friday where you can buy local beers for $3.50 and $4 glasses of house and sparkling wine. At the main bar, you will come across a range of deluxe dark brown wooden high tables that compliment the bars contemporary interior. Every Thursday and Friday night, DJ's take over the main bar and the area can become a dance floor.

If you're more in the mood for some food rather than drinks definitely try out the bistro for some delicious Australian cuisine. Lunch or dinner will generally be from $10 to $20 but if you purchase a drink your meal becomes cheaper. Chelsea Bar also offers discounted lunches and dinner from Saturday to Thursday. A meal to try is definitely the chicken schnitzel - it's gigantic! Once the bistro is closed, this area becomes open as a seating area to those who are looking for a more intimate setting.

The people you'll see at Chelsea Bar often depends on the time you're there. Late afternoon will often see business men having after work drinks while later on in the night the young crowd moves in.

Suitable for any kind of night you're looking to have, Chelsea Bar will always be the perfect setting for an entertaining and enjoyable night out.
